In 1987 the 100th Congress of the United States of America passed House Congressional Resolution 57 (HR-57), declaring jazz a "rare and valuable national American treasure to which we should devote our attention, support and resources to make certain it is preserved, understood and promulgated." It follows, then, that every student and citizen should learn about jazz, widely considered America's greatest artistic contribution to the world. In the spirit of jazz preservation, and to highlight the uniquely dynamic democratic structure of jazz, The Jazz & Democracy Project® was conceived to inspire youth to expand their thinking and positively impact their communities.

The Jazz & Democracy Project® (J&D) not only teaches elementary, middle, and high school students about jazz, it uses jazz to bring American democracy to life. Therefore, your wise transformational investment in J&D will not only help preserve a national treasure, you help perpetuate the fundamentals of our nation which are embedded in our nation’s indigenous art: freedom, liberty, choice and peaceful negotiation, just to name a few. Your investment in J&D means you provide our future leaders an opportunity to learn about our nation’s classical music, while simultaneously providing them with a profound, cross-disciplinary understanding of our nation’s system of government, and ways that they can contribute to our democracy as 21st century citizens.

Please support us as we provide J&D throughout our inner-city, disadvantaged neighborhoods, and more privileged ones. Tax deductible donations may be received here. Please click "The Jazz & Democracy Project® Fundraiser" button to ensure your donation benefits J&D!
